I founded Valentine Patient Advocacy to combine my medical expertise with my passion for standing beside patients when they need it most. As both a Board-Certified Patient Advocate and a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician, I’ve spent over 20 years in the ER not only delivering urgent, life-saving care, but also making sure my patients had someone in their corner—guiding them toward the follow-up, resources, and support they truly deserved.
I founded Valentine Patient Advocacy with a deep commitment to helping individuals and families navigate the often overwhelming healthcare system with clarity, compassion, and confidence. I earned my medical degree from the USC Keck School of Medicine in 2000 and completed my Emergency Medicine residency at the University of California, San Diego in 2004. I received my board certification in 2005 and I am a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. I am also bilingual in English and Spanish.
Today, I also serve as a Physician Advisor, assisting with review of complex medical records, insurance appeals, and status determinations for hospitalized patients. This role requires a unique blend of medical expertise, legal insight, and knowledge of healthcare regulations—and it allows me to continue advocating for patients at a systemic level.
Over the years, I’ve naturally taken on the role of advocate for friends and family, especially when they’ve faced serious diagnoses, hospitalizations, or confusing treatment plans. Whether it was helping them understand a medical condition, reviewing test results, explaining medications, preparing them for surgery, or simply translating “medical speak” into clear, human terms—I’ve always believed patients deserve to feel supported, informed, and empowered.
