Frequently Asked Questions

As an Independent Patient Advocate, I provide personalized support to help you navigate the complexities of the healthcare
system. Unlike hospital-based advocates who serve the institution, my sole focus is on you — the client. Your needs, concerns, and
well-being are my top priority, with services tailored to guide and empower you throughout your healthcare journey.

Being independent means being unrestricted. I work solely for you, free from the influence of insurance companies, government
programs, or healthcare organizations.

NO.

While Independent Patient Advocates play a vital role in supporting individuals throughout the healthcare journey, it is important
to understand that they do not provide medical care, make diagnoses, or administer treatments. They are not a replacement for licensed medical professionals. Instead, Independent Patient Advocates serve as knowledgeable guides and trusted partners – helping patients understand their healthcare options, communicate more effectively with their healthcare team, and make informed decisions. Their role is strictly informational and non-clinical, with a focus on education, coordination, and advocacy to ensure that each patient’s voice is heard, valued, and respected throughout the care process.

Earning the designation of Board-Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA) reflects a commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and expertise in the field of Patient Advocacy. This certification is achieved through a rigorous examination process that validates knowledge across key areas, including healthcare navigation, patient rights, ethical standards, effective communication, and care coordination. BCPA professionals adhere to a strict code of conduct and are required to engage in ongoing education to stay current in the ever-evolving healthcare landscape. Choosing a Board-certified Patient
Advocate offers the assurance that clients and their families are working with a qualified, accountable, and dedicated professional who is committed to supporting your healthcare journey.

How do I get started with Valentine Patient Advocacy?

Getting started is easy!

Begin with a complimentary consultation to discuss your needs and determine if my services are the right fit for you. If we’re aligned, your journey with a dedicated Independent Patient Advocate can begin.

When you are ready to begin, you will receive a contract and detailed pricing information for review. Once the agreement is signed and submitted with payment, we will begin the advocacy process.

We will conduct a thorough review of your medical history, current medications, ongoing concerns, and advocacy goals. This allows us to create a personalized strategy tailored to your specific healthcare advocacy needs.

For ongoing support, I offer monthly concierge service plans that provide continuous, highly personalized guidance. Each month, we will review your healthcare status, address new developments or concerns, and ensure your care remains on track. This consistent partnership empowers you to better understand your conditions, proactively prepare for appointments or hospitalizations, and navigate the healthcare system with ongoing, expert support.
